6. VIRGO

Sixth Sign of Zodiac.

Mutable Sign of the Earthly Triplicity.

Harmonic Sign of the Maternal Trinity.

I

This quiet, modest, reserved person delights to be of service to others. Is logical but pessimistic; diligent and painstaking, a stickler for details ; almost worships cleanliness.

II PRECESSION OF THE EQUINOXES

Virgo showered the earth with cosmic rays from 13,255-11,098 B.C.

This was a lowly earth stage, a period in which mankind worshipped crops and abundance. They were slowly groping upward from scratch.

In the future, Virgo will repeat this performance from 12,629 to 14,786 A.D.

Ill NATURE, CHARACTER and PERSONALITY

This clever, critical, precise, anxious, unsexual individual, accumulates knowledge, but analyzes and classifies it; very observing, she is continuously busy, and worries over details, very adaptable, she is obedient, pessimistic, she lacks self-confidence ; inherently honest, her opinions are very changeable.

Often melancholy, unhappy, dreamy, brooding, even selfish, she is irritable and petulant; and she tends to fuss about her health and diet.

The above is varied by the placement of her Moon, as follows . . .

WITH THE MOON IN ARIES . . . active, far-seeing; quick in speech; too easily self-satisfied.

CANCER . . . sentimental, deceptive; spreads propaganda and sectarianism.

LEO . . . inharmonious; there is conflict between mind and senses; a braggart; too much elegance.

VIRGO . . . good for business, but melancholy and lonely; too meticulous.

LIBRA . . . critical and impatient; but has good judgment and is well-balanced.

SCORPIO . . . unsympathetic, but useful in industry; is rancorous and unforgiving.

SAGITTARIUS . . . philosophical; easy with thoughts and words; inclined to hasty judgments.

CAPRICORN . . . materialistic; too much business; serious and somber.

AQUARIUS . . . very irregular; works intermittently; too settled; has erroneous opinions.

PISCES . . . likes mystical studies; is too inquisitive; is very charitable, but expects it back.

  2. Is loosely built, pallid, and generally devitalized; but has abundant hair.

V — OCCUPATION

VII HOW VIRGO MATES WITH OTHER SIGNS WITH

ARIES . . . extremely difficult. (See Chapter I, page 13).

TAURUS ... a fine team. (See Chapter II, page 21).

GEMINI ... not good. (See Chapter III, page 30).

CANCER . . . satisfactory. (See Chapter IV, page 37).

LEO . . . very difficult. (See Chapter V, page 45).

VIRGO . . . possible, if Virgo's ideal is a friendly, intellectual, companionable marriage.

LIBRA ... no attraction. Libra likes Virgo's fussiness about details, but Libra's champagne taste does not like Virgo's beer outlook.

SCORPIO . . . possible, if each will learn from the other and respect each other enough to leave the other alone. Both are practical and realistic, and know how to make the best of a situation, and they both have lots of common sense.

SAGITTARIUS . . . incompatible. Sagittarius would turn Virgo's neatness and efficiency to fussy over-active nagging; Sagittarius' cheerfulness, companionability, and love of adventure, will go sour and get on Virgo's nerves ; Sagittarius is fickle, Virgo faithful; Sagittarius is generous. Virgo frugal; Sagittarius likes flashy clothes, while Virgo is conservative. And both love to give advice.

CAPRICORN ... a nice combination; both are practical, hard-working and dependable; both love to study; Virgo won't mind Capricorn being the boss, for Virgo loves to serve, so long as she is considered worthy.

AQUARIUS ... possible, but it depends much on Virgo's flexibility and Aquarius' understanding. Aquarius can be generous and philosophical enough to understand Virgo's criticism. Virgo must learn to avoid hurting Aquarius' sensitive nature, for Aquarius is easily hurt, and finds it hard to forgive.

PISCES . .. difficult. Differences are deep-rooted. Virgo is much too orderly to stand Pisces' carelessness, and Pisces' romantic dreams are completely lost on Virgo's rationalism.

Thus Virgo mates best with Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius.

MOON . . . very practical; is ambitious to excel; a good servant.

Afflicted . . . cold-blooded; ambitious; lacks romance.

MERCURY ... an idealist, with a clear, practical, scientific mind.

VENUS ... a quiet nature, with deep sympathy, which is seldom expressed.

SATURN ... a person of solitary habit and disposition. Studious.

PLUTO . . . very highly spiritual. Wants to systematize her knowledge.

IX A SATELLITIUM IN VIRGO

An accountant, secretary, stenographer, librarian, dressmaker, nurse, dietician, or housekeeper.

One who is meticulously neat, precise, orderly, and attentive to details; who is critical, fastidious, and in all things, discriminating; who is fussy at times, with a passion for segregating, putting in order, and classifying.

She is prone to see the part as greater than the whole. She is penny-wise but pound-foolish. She knows the value of the penny, but can't understand the dollar. She is cool towards the opposite sex, a natural virgin, and often timid and nervous. She is very practical, very mathematical, and correct in calculations. Has a good memory, and is inclined to be prolix.

May be born a dwarf or a hunchback.

X A CUSPIAN IN VIRGO

Born August 23rd to September 2nd.

The most unusual of all the cusps . . . the magic gate to the all-unknowable.

This is a very distinctive type, and the possibility of unfoldment is limitless. It possesses few of the characteristics of the usual Virgoan.

There are two groupings . . .

  1. ... MERCURY . . . mental and practical, with an eye on material advantages; has a commercial flair for marketing, and cannot be surpassed as a bargain hunter. Is literary and extremely creative. Will fit either mental occupations or merchandising.
  2. ... VULCAN . . . has a penchant for joining secret societies, and for acquiring occult knowledge. Is often an inspired mystic. Is aloof, self-sufficient, and celibate. Would be a perfect judge, a teacher, or a writer of weird stories. Unique pursuits are a good bet, as laboratory
research, chemistry, photography, and all the scientific occupations.

Both have a few drawbacks. Both lack generosity, and have a short-sighted pragmatism; both are very commercial, and may become grasping and mercenary.

When this cusp is rising, drastic events crash the smooth course of existence; extraordinary experiences are bound to occur.

XI CONCLUSION

Thus, Virgo is one who is fit for practical work, but lacks tact and diplomacy. She likes to be the "boss", but does not like being bossed.

Virgo is the sign of the servant, and will always do the best work in a subordinate position.

Virgo is very observing, but tends to be forgetful of self.

Virgo tends to remain alone; is apt to forget love, and so has no urge to marry.

Virgo has great self-confidence. She will not admit error, but will do everything to convince others she is right
