5. LEO

Fifth Sign of Zodiac.

Fixed Sign of the Fire Triplicity.

Passive Sign of the Maternal Trinity.

I

This stately, forceful, large-bodied person wears a magnanimous smile, but is dignified, masterful and proud. He dearly loves display, and expects adulation.

II PRECESSION OF THE EQUINOXES

Leo showered the earth with cosmic rays from 11,098 to 8941 B.C. This was the fire age, during which time they worshipped the Sun. Baptism was by fire, and sacrifices were made on an altar, burnt by fire. Human sacrifices were often made. The next Leo Age will occur in 14,786 to 16,943 A.D.

Ill NATURE, CHARACTER and PERSONALITY

Leo, although masterful, even pompous, is proud, stately, self-confident, even egotistical; he is also composed, serious, sincere, magnanimous and honorable.

He is affectionate and faithful, although there is some danger of passion and sensuality.

He loves authority, power, and adulation.

The above traits are varied by placement of his Moon.

WITH THE MOON IN ARIES . . . combative and at times violent. Jealous of his rank, as chief, etc.

MOON IN TAURUS . . . excessive feelings; obstinate vanity. Loves to gamble and speculate.

Erect and dignified, this large-boned one is above the average in height, with a strong trunk and full body. He has a lion's voice, loud, cheerful and melodious. Has a sunny smile, even though the corners of his mouth turn downward. His lower lip protrudes.

His skin is light, with a rosy tint; his eyes are large, and wide open; his nostrils are large; his ears are large, with long lobes, which are grown fast to his head; his head is round and flat behind; his hair is golden, wavy, curly, and tends to total baldness; his fingernails are large and round; he walks energetically, and radiates health.

V OCCUPATION

Leo enjoys occupations in which he will be the pivot. He loves to direct, to govern, and to organize the work of others. He prefers to be his own boss.

Children love a Leo teacher, but the job is not independent enough for him. He loves showmanship, so fits very well in a circus.

VII HOW LEO MATES WITH OTHER SIGNS

WITH ARIES ... not easy. (See Chapter I, page 13).

TAURUS ... a strong attraction. (See Chapter II, page 21).

GEMINI ... a good combination. (See Chapter III, page 30).

CANCER. . . not comfortable. (See Chapter IV, page 37)

LEO . . . not the best. Two kings cannot occupy the same throne; although, if life is to be lived in public or in social activity, it might be possible.

VIRGO . . . very difficult. The only thing they have in common is a highly developed sense of justice. Leo has grand ideas, and must hold the spotlight; Virgo is too matter-of-fact to admire Leo constantly; Leo sees the world as a stage where he loves to strut; Virgo sees it as a workshop in which to serve; Leo hates to be wrong, while Virgo insists on criticising.

LIBRA . . . good. Leo is taken in by Libra's gracious ways and artless flattery; and Libra is impressed by Leo's romantic ideas and grand manner. What Leo lacks in tolerance is compensated for by Libra's diplomacy. Both are realistic and shrewd.

SCORPIO ... no good! Both generate too much steam and get into each other's hair too often. Both are proud and independent; Leo will feel hurt at the drop of a hat, and bossy possessive Scorpio will not have much use for Leo's idealistic outlook and self-dramatism.

SAGITTARIUS . . . very difficult, but they understand each other. Leo regards the center of the stage as his own, but Sagittarius likes to take the floor too once in a

while; while Leo, easily hurt, will be shaken by Sagittarius' thoughtless bluntness. Sagittarius forgets it easily, but Leo nurses the hurt, and sulks for weeks.

CAPRICORN . . . possible, but not easy. Capricorn is too sober and matter-of-fact for Leo's need for romance and dramatics. But if Leo gives real performance and gets recognition from the world, Capricorn will be an ardent supporter and administrator.

AQUARIUS . . . attract each other, but difficult. Both are proud and not easy to live with; Leo needs much attention, but Aquarius does not hand out compliments. Both are idealistic and truth-seeking, but while Leo's ideas center about himself, Aquarius' interest is fixed on the whole world.

PISCES ... too difficult. Possibly only if Pisces is feminine. She would be proud of Leo's leonine ways and loyalty. Leo would be satisfied with a Pisces devoted to him. This would bring out the best in him, and supply him with an appreciative audience at home.

So Leo mates best with Taurus, Gemini, Libra, and Capricorn.

IX SATELLITIUM IN LEO

One who beams on you. Is magnetic, generous, big-hearted, magnificent and artistic. Is daring, dramatic, sometimes tyrannical. Often unintentionally annoying, especially to Virgo. Loves splendor, luxury, the drama, speculation, amusements, and the stage.

He constructs, builds up, and organizes. The bigger the task, the happier he is, for he hates the petty and the small, and has a calm disregard for details.

This produces astrologers, mediums, kings, rulers and actors.

X THE LEO CUSPIAN

Born July 23 to 31

When fixed fire and cardinal water combine, a complex personality results. Thus, an impulsive go-getter, and an excitable hot-head, would rather lead than be driven. His will-power is strong.

Luck is always with him, but he lacks patience. He is often untidy and slovenly personally, but he insists on order for those about him.

His pride runs deep, and he has a great conviction of superiority. Yet he is loyal, big-hearted and loves people.

XI — CONCLUSION

Leo is a kind father, who loves to help those in trouble.

He loves to play, and loves risk and venture. He does things with his whole heart and soul.

Success comes to him early in life ! he if often more fortunate than he deserves.

He has great organizing ability, but prefers to have others do the work.
